Fête des lumières

The annual festival of lights in Lyon, started to honor the citizens' promise to the Virgin Mary for saving them from the plague and the war, the Fête des lumières is a colorful and spectacular festival attracting over a million people from all regions of France.

Unfortunately due to the overload of work that accompanies exams I have been unable to update the blog regularly. Most of the pictures were taken over a month ago but I'm going to put them up anyway.

The following pictures were taken on the 18th of November, when Algeria qualified for the FIFA World Cup after around 20 years. The location is Place Bellecour in Lyon and the crowd is emphatically celebrating the win, until riot police put an end to the festivities.
